I am Canadian, but I’m also Barbadian—we call ourselves Bajan. Everyone has heard of Canada, but not many people have heard of Barbados. Barbados is a tiny island located just beyond your imagination…but if you can imagine it, then it’s actually in the Caribbean sea 900km north of Venezuela.
Barbados is small. By comparison, it’s approximately 162 square kilometers smaller than Awaji Island. What it lacks in size, it makes up for in beauty. Ask any Bajan and they will tell you that it has some of the most beautiful beaches in the world.
Not only does it have beautiful beaches, it also has delicious food. One of its most famous dishes is pudding and souse. Everyone makes or buys it on Saturdays. In the past, it was made from pig’s feet, ears, snout and tongue, but in recent times, people have switched to using leaner cuts of pork. The pudding is made of sweet potatoes and cassava. It’s a dish that’s served chilled.
So if you want to experience beautiful beaches, friendly locals, and amazing cuisine, I recommend an unforgettable trip to sunny Barbados. It’s just beyond your imagination.
